Peter Van Overbeke, a student at the University Of Miami and US Marine, graduated from Hampden Academy in 2023. In the Spring of 2025, Peter was chosen to become a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.

At Hampden Academy, Van Overbeke served as French Club vice president. He was a four-year honor roll member, was recognized as student of the quarter, and graduated with High Honors. His other activities include soccer, track and field, and beekeeping club.  

Peter was also chosen by Hampden Acadmey to represent the school at Maine’s Boys’ State Program. During Maine’s 2023 Dirigo State program, the Nation’s First co-ed Boys’ and Girls’ State Program, Van Overbeke was elected Mayor, President of the Senate, Vice Chairperson, and Municipal Party Leader during his week at Boys State. 

Peterv was selected as a senator for American Legion Boys Nation in the Washington, D.C. area, July 22-29, 2023. Boys Nation is an annual American Legion program that includes civic training, leadership development, and a focus on Americanism. Peter proudly represented Maine during his time in the Nation’s Capital.
